Study Tips Help You Stay Focused
A few months after his arrival in Australia to start my masters , I found myself faced with difficult challenges in my first . I had a student work and the burden of poor research on my part has been proved to be a bit ' too much to handle . But I still do quite well, sort through stacks of notes, navigate two or three books at a time and slowly prepare homework, so I will not go crazy when the time comes around.
Now, before we go any further, I must say that I am a sports fan and want to play the game indoors and outdoors . If someone told me that Arsenal had lost I would show them my latest version of FIFA in 2013 and defeat any opponent of their choice ( with the difficulty set to ' ease ' of course). I would also like to watch movies , so you do not miss any opportunity to go to the movies - especially when I can get the student discount .
If anyone is even talk of any of the benefits , I 'm easily distracted and lose focus of my research. And that's exactly what happened ! The result ? I had fun , fitness and social opportunities. Everything sounds good ? No. In the midst of all these adventures , I ended up late my research and can not prepare for my next lesson.
Since I ' was on a research project set up, I was able to cope with risk and return my schedule. But if you are among those who are easily distracted and can not make his way back to study, give thought to your priorities.
Here are some simple tips to help you focus of study :
1 . Set objectives for learning
First, start with the basics and set your learning objectives. Ask yourself why you are here at the university, you ( like me) have traveled all over the world the opportunity. Fun is definitely an answer, but not the most important . Know your target job half done .
2 . Make a plan of study
Once you know what you want , the next step is to prepare a program of weekly study . Establish a routine for everything. Your program may include the time needed to go to bed , you need to time your meals, and - most importantly - the time should be spent on research . There are no hard and fast rules , and you must , of course, allow for some flexibility depending on how things go. But to create a routine is essential, and try to meet the timetable of your learning in the best possible way.
3 . Learning to say no
Now , I'm not asking you to give all your social activities , but you have to take a bold step . If you dinner every day , it is better to limit it to one day a week , which will help you save a bit ' of money. If you go to the movies every week , try to cut once in two weeks. If someone asks you to go with them to hang out at the mall, when you know you need to study and tell them that you are busy - and let them know when the weather will be better. In short, learn to say no when you know that you really need .
4 . Focus on your priorities
Self-help is the key here . No one else stop you from doing what you want, but you're the one who will face the consequences if you fail to achieve your goals . Remember that you are in school for a reason, and that reason , if nothing else you will lose will match each equation .
What should I do to stay focused is to keep a diary for me. I wrote all the learning goals and my priorities in it, and when I have free time ( while waiting for the train or on the road and at bedtime ) , I have a vision. You can do the same , or even a poster on the wall of your room.
Follow these tips and research will focus on your goal and you'll find that you feel more confident about your research - and can still enjoy all the other aspects of student life .
